High Health Hazard. Skin and eye irritant and classified as a carcinogen.
Due to its low biodegradability and low absorption tendency, Benzotriazole is only partly removed in wastewater treatment. This can result in in significant amounts of benzotriazole being discharged into waterways, where it is toxic to aquatic and plant life. The Dutch Expert Committee on Occupational Standards classifies 1,2,3-Benzotriazole as a suspected Human Carcinogen. REFERENCES: (1. Health Council of the Netherlands: 1,2,3-Benzotriazole.
