Sodium silicate, also known as water glass, is formed by the reaction of sodium carbonate and silicon dioxide (the main component of sand). We use this ingredient in our dishwasher and laundry detergents to soften hard water, prevent corrosion in machines and improve the durability and effectiveness of the detergent granules.
