Synthetic dyes are ingredients often derived from carcinogenic petrochemical derivativesiii that are used as colouring agents for many different products on the market. Common types of Synthetic dyes are called Azo Dyes. Not only do they come from non-renewable resources, Synthetic dyes can be eye skin and lung irritants and can also release carcinogenic amines, as well as attributing to environmental pollutioniv.
